Winner of the Lower Austrian Timber Construction Prize 2019
The former Würzlmühle in Kirchberg an der Wild from the 18th century was in a desolate condition. The focus of the conversion project was on the further use of the existing material and on making it visible. With this concept, the building scored well in the category “Conversion & extension, renovation”.
The entire wooden construction of the roof truss and the intermediate ceiling could be preserved and in a subtle way the existing could be transformed into the contemporary. Even the wood waste was used in combination with black steel in the new kitchen, the new staircase and the new doors. Upcycling in its best form.
