Ceremonial opening of the House of Schools in Linz
The House of Schools – the JKU’s business school – now has 7,000 m² of space on six floors with 124 individual offices, 12 meeting rooms and 4 seminar rooms.
The open atrium with cantilevered stairs and platforms is illuminated with natural light via a glass roof. The seminar rooms and larger meeting rooms are located on the ground floor and the offices on the upper floors.
The façade – a steel grid in front of the building – features three different types of solar shading elements: These are textile screens, vertical louvres made of perforated sheet metal and greened surfaces; they also serve to provide thermal insulation and improve air quality.
The architectural concept comes from the Viennese architectural office querkraft architekten.
