With the VinziRast in the countryside project, a former hotel and restaurant with an impressively large usable area of 3,500m² was converted into a farm with permaculture agriculture for fruit and vegetable cultivation and small animal husbandry.

Since 2023, formerly homeless people have found employment, daily structure and social support here at the converted farm in Mayerling, 35 minutes from Vienna. The new site offers the ideal infrastructure with generous cultivation areas, nature, common rooms, small residential units, workshops, overnight accommodation, seminar and workshop facilities.

The circular construction par excellence of the future chicken coop got the project a nomination of the Lower Austrian Timber Construction Award 2023. For this purpose, an empty field barn in the Kamptal was dismantled, brought to Mayerling and rebuilt there as a chicken coop by wood technology students of the HTL Mödling on the former hotel tennis court. The PV modules for the south roof are a donation from a solar panel company from Carinthia. werkraum ingenieure are proud to be part of this socially sustainable project.
