The artwork in public space ‘Vienna Banquet of Human Rights and their Guardians’ was opened in June 2018, in the presence of the Belgian artist Françoise Schein.

The Square of Human Rights marks the area at the beginning of Mariahilfer Straße, directly in front of the Museumsquartier, and was already inaugurated on 10 December 2014, on International Human Rights Day. Despite this prominent location, it was hardly known until now. With the presence of the new installation by Françoise Schein, the square has been brought to the attention of the public.

The artwork consists of two large elements: An approximately ten-metre-long table with benches arranged parallel to each other and a red question mark, which Schein has marked in large letters across the entire square. The table is set: white tiles are laid on the tabletop, the articles of human rights are quoted on the painted plates.
