In the Berlin district of Neukölln, a dormitory with 105 places for students was built using modular timber construction. Together with the architectural company WGA ZT GmbH and Lukas Lang Building Technologies GmbH, the pilot project was realized using a serial construction method.
A high proportion of wood – up to 70 percent – was used in the supporting structure, shell and interior fittings.
The diverse spatial concept provides for single, double and three-person apartments and enables the building to be adaptable to different user needs in the future.
Both the supporting structure and the non-load-bearing interior walls and façade elements are consistently designed for reusability.
