Lower Austria Timber Construction Award – Special Prize for the Austrian Pavilion – EXPO 2025 Osaka

The Lower Austrian Timber Construction Award is being presented for the 20th consecutive year by the Province of Lower Austria, proHolz NÖ/Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, and the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture.

The projects nominated for the 2025 Lower Austrian Timber Construction Award are exemplary in showing how climate protection and innovative architecture can go hand in hand.

Thanks to the principle of “screws instead of glue,” the entire structure of the wooden spiral structure of the Austrian EXPO pavilion can be completely dismantled and reused. The spiral sculpture made of individual thin wooden slats was only doweled after it had been curved.
