Competition win with querkraft architects

The design for the memorial focuses on restraint and, in combination with an artistic intervention, creates a networked landscape of remembrance. In this way, the former camp complex is made tangible.

In June, a jury decided on the order of the competition entries for the extension and redesign of the Gusen concentration camp memorial. The EU-wide, two-stage, open, anonymous competition had been running since September last year. It was organized by the Burghauptmannschaft Österreich in cooperation with the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial.

The entries provided designs for the overall landscape planning, architectural and urban design of several areas on the former camp site.
