Austrian ZV Client Award 2025: House of Schools in Linz

The Client Award honors individuals or groups of people who, as clients, contractors, or mentors, have made a special contribution to building culture in Austria.

Juries in the individual federal states shortlisted 24 projects from 112 submissions. From these, the main jury – Anne Beer (architect and urban planner, Munich), Günter Mohr (architect, Vienna), and Kaye Geipel (architecture critic, Brussels/Berlin) – selected the 2025 award winners.

We are delighted and proud to be among the award-winning projects with the HOS – House of Schools – project at JKU Linz.

The five-story university building in Linz is constructed as a reinforced concrete skeleton structure and appears compact from the outside. Inside, however, it is open and connects all floors with a central atrium, which serves as a spacious communication zone. The façade extends over two levels: the space is enclosed by a posts-and-beams system with an attached steel structure and elements for sun protection and planting.

The flexible building structure of the HOS creates space for different requirements and allows for future construction phases and changes in use.
