Given the limited possibilities for additional buildings, the desired expansion of the school required extensive interventions into the core of the school which was built in the 1980s as well as the finely coordinated restructuring of rooms.

The massive ferroconcrete shelters in the basement received generous openings and were transformed into cloakrooms, a bicycle cellar was turned into a light block of classrooms through the removal of all exterior walls, and several existing blocks were spatially reorganised.

Smaller extensions of the building were added to be used as comprehensive classrooms, as well as an additional storey to one of the blocks, which was built as a lightweight construction and is to be the home to a number of new classrooms. The design of this new addition intentionally differs from the original building.
